New Dialysis Block at GH Ernakulam

The new dialysis block at the General Hospital, Ernakulam, was opened on January 19.

The facility was set up at a cost of ₹8 crore. Of that, ₹2-crore assistance was sanctioned under the asset development fund of Hibi Eden, MP, when he was MLA representing the Ernakulam Assembly constituency. Veena George, Minister of Health, inaugurated the block. Actor Mammootty was present.

The three-storey block has 54 ICU beds for dialysis. There are 54 dialysis units. The other facilities include centralised oxygen suction air pipeline, six bio carbonate mixers, help desks, nursing stations, washing area, and rest room for staff members, he added.

Public sector units including Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited had contributed funds for the project. The others who joined hands to fund the project include Rotary Club of Cochin Central, Rotary Club of Cochin Titan, and the Hospital Development Committee.

ഹെൽത്ത് സർവീസ് ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെൻറ് കീഴിൽ ആദ്യമായി വൃക്ക മാറ്റിവെക്കൽ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തി വിജയിച്ച സ്ഥാപനമായി എറണാകുളം ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു .26.11.2023 തീയതി ഞായറാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 8:30ക്ക് ആരംഭിച്ച സർജറി ഒരു മണിയോടുകൂടി അവസാനിക്കുമ്പോൾ എറണാകുളം ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രി ചരിത്രത്തിൻറെ ഭാഗമായി മാറുകയായിരുന്നു. ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രിയിലെ സൂപ്പർ സ്പെഷ്യാലിറ്റി ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റിലെ ,യൂറോളജി ഒന്ന് രണ്ട് തിയേറ്ററുകളിലായി നടന്ന രണ്ട് ശാസ്ത്രക്രിയകളിലൂടെയാണ് ചേർത്തല സ്വദേശിയായ 28 വയസ്സുകാരന് സ്വന്തം മാതാവ് വൃക്ക ദാനം ചെയ്തത്.

ഹെൽത്ത് സർവീസ് ഡിപ്പാർട്മെന്റിന് കീഴിൽ, ആദ്യമായി അവയവ മാറ്റിവക്കൽ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ,എന്ന പടവ് നടന്നു കയറുമ്പോൾ , എറണാകുളം ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രി , ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ജില്ലാ/ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ആദ്യത്തേതും, കേരളത്തിലെ സർക്കാർ മേഖലയിലെ ആകെ ആശുപത്രികളിൽ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ സ്ഥാപനവുമായി മാറുകയായിരുന്നു. നിലവിൽ,സർക്കാർ മേഖലയിൽ തിരുവനന്തപുരം , ആലപ്പുഴ കോട്ടയം, കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജുകളിൽ മാത്രമാണ് ഈ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടന്നു വരുന്നത്.

ദേശീയ ആരോഗ്യ ദൗത്യത്തിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ കൊച്ചിൻ കോർപ്പറേഷന്റെയും എറണാകുളം ജനറൽ ആശുപത്രിയുടെയും സംയുക്താഭിമുഖ്യത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന സ്തനാർബുദ പരിശോധന ക്യാമ്പ്.

കോർപറേഷനിലെ 74 ഡിവിഷനുകളിൽ 12.11.2023 നു നടന്നു. ഭവന സന്ദർശനം നടത്തി 27000 സ്ത്രീകളെ ഇതിനകം സ്ക്രീനിംഗ് നടത്തി. ഇതിൽ നിന്ന് 1600 പേരെയാണ്  പരിശോധന ക്യാമ്പിലേക്ക് റെഫർ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളത്. കാൻസർ സ്പെഷ്യലിറ്റി ബ്ലോക്കിന്റെ ഉത്‌ഘാടനത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ചാണ്  ” തൂവൽ സ്പർശം ” പദ്ധതി നടപ്പാക്കുന്നത്

The involvement of the Smart City Mission (CSML) as the funding agency for this project shows the commitment to providing advanced medical facilities to the community.

  • Inpatient Care : The facility can accommodate 100 patients, ensuring that a substantial number of individuals can receivespecialized care and treatment.
  • Diverse Care Units : The block includes various specialized units like the Cancer ICU, Neutropenia ICU, and a ChemotherapyUnit. These units are essential for providing critical care and specialized treatments to cancer patients.
  • Separate wards : Separate wards for male and female patients are available.
  • Dormitory for Bystanders : Having a dormitory for bystanders is a thoughtful addition. It allows family members and friendsto stay close to their loved ones during their treatment, providing emotional support
  • Medical Facilities on each floor : The presence of nursing stations and doctors’ rooms on each floor ensures that medicalstaff are readily available to attend to patients’ needs
